Authorities have confiscated unlicensed and banned medications valued at more than ₹3 lakh from a fitness center located in Mira Road, Thane district. This includes injections commonly used by gym-goers to enhance their physique, as reported by an official on Friday.
The police have detained one individual in connection with this case. The local crime investigation unit, operating under the Mira-Bhayandar and Vasai-Virar police commissionerate, conducted the operation against the illegal sale of these drugs on Thursday.
According to an official statement, the seized items include 640 vials of Termiva (mephentermine sulfate injection), which are valued at ₹3,21,902. The police have identified the main suspect, Kanhaiya Wakil Kanaujia, who is currently at large.
During the raid, his 19-year-old son, Aman Kanaujia, who was managing the center, was taken into custody. The police have filed a First Information Report (FIR) at the Mira Road police station under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Drugs and Cosmetics Act of 1940, which pertains to the prohibition of manufacturing and selling certain drugs and cosmetics.
